PUT ON YOUR BEST HARRY POTTER COSTUME
FOR “THE BIG HARRY DEAL”

Fans of Harry Potter books and films can show their affection for the wizard and his magical friends by dressing up as their favorite characters at “The Big Harry Deal,” on Monday, August 6, at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.

“The Big Harry Deal,” from 5 to 7 p.m., invites Potter fans to dress up as their favorite character and compete for great prizes, including tickets to the Omni Theater’s IMAX® 2D feature, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Participants in nine costume categories can also win other “big Harry deals,” such as Harry Potter hats, shirts and other merchandise.

The party will get started with contest registration from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Judging will begin at 5:30 to determine winners of eight categories: Best Costume in four age groups – Ages 0-6, Ages 7-12, Ages 13-18, and Adults – as well as Most Authentic, Harry-est Harry, Most Magical Creature, and Best “Green” (environmentally friendly) Costume.

In addition, all party participants who attend the 7:05 p.m. showing of the film will have a chance to vote for the best overall costume and recipient of the “Muggles’ Choice Award.” And, while eight contestants will win contest prizes, everyone who wears a costume to the party will receive a free Harry Potter movie poster. There is no cost to enter the contest.

Other party activities will include appearances by some slitherin’ and crawly creatures related to the animals featured in the Harry Potter films; wizardly science demonstrations by Museum staff; and a chance to check out artifacts from the Museum’s extensive collection.

Tickets for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are $12 for adults and $10 for children (3-12) and seniors (60+). Museum Discovery members receive a $2 discount per ticket: Discovery Plus members receive a $3 discount per ticket. Tickets may be ordered online, by phone at (817) 255-9540, or in person at the Museum Ticket Office. Advance tickets are recommended.
