Astronomy on Wheels: The "Noble Dome"
Let our “Noble Dome” come to you! Linda Krouse and her staff will bring the universe to your classroom in the Museum’s new portable planetarium. Travel through space with our Museum staff, unleashing your student’s imagination. This experience is a great way to bring space science to life for your students.
Footprints on the Moon
Grades: K-2
Astronaut Alan Bean introduces our closest neighbor in space, the moon. Put on your helmet and join the Museum staff for a visit to the moon to explore its surface, plant a flag, and pick a moon rock!
Solar Tours
Choose your grade level: K-1; 2-4
Climb aboard the starship U.S.S. Noble Dome for a fun and informative journey through the solar system. Explore seasonal changes and observe distinct differences between our various neighbors in their size, color, temperature and other surface features. Feel what the surface of Mars is like. Just how many moons does Jupiter have these days?
Sun-Earth-Moon Connections
Grades: 3-8
Take a closer look at our most important star, the sun. Learn how it affects life on Earth with its heat and light. Learn about our closest neighbor in space, the moon. Does the moon rotate? Why does the moon go through phases? Find out why we have seasons and observe how we see stars at different times of the year. Locate the Big Dipper and pinpoint the North Star, or use the Big Dipper for a seasonal clock.

Gather 10 students and/or teachers from your school, district or region; or gather 10 parents with their children and have a “family day” (Children should be grade 6 and up.) Spend a day building telescopes that can be used by the end of the day! We build 4.5-inch or 6-inch (your choice) Newtonian reflectors on a Dobsonian base. Each telescope comes with a professional eyepiece and instruction manual just in case you get telescope fever and want to build another! Telrad finder scopes are available at a discounted price to participants. Telescopes can be built in one day or two half days, during the week, or on selected Saturdays.
