1 We're about Learning.
The Museum's core purpose is education: offering exceptional learning experiences in science and history to the diverse population of North Texas, particularly children, their families and educators.

2 The Very First.
Our Museum was the very first children's museum in Texas and one of the first children's museums in the nation. (The Museum was established in 1941).

3 First in the Southwest.
The Omni Theater was the first IMAX domed theater in the Southwest when it opened in 1983. More than 10 million visitors have enjoyed giant-screen films in the Omni.

4 Another First.
The Museum's Noble Planetarium was the first planetarium to be named after a female astronomer. (It was named after Charlie Mary Noble, a Fort Worth educator of math and astronomy). And Yet Another. Our Museum was the very first children's museum in the world to have a planetarium.

5 Our Huge Crowds.
The Museum hosts nearly 1 million guests each year to its exhibits, films, planetarium shows, classes and special events.

6 Educational Impact.
Every year, thousands of students from all corners of the state attend the Omni Theater, Noble Planetarium, exhibits and special program on school field trips. The educational impact? Almost 300,000 hours of science and social studies education for Texas students each year.

7 Museum School®.
Our Museum School was the first museum preschool in Texas, and one of the first in the nation to recognize that 3, 4, and 5-year-olds have the capacity to learn about science and natural history. As such, it was one of the first museum preschools accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

8 Exhibits on Tour.
The Museum creates original exhibits that open in Fort Worth then travel to children's and science museums across the nation to be seen by millions. These include Joshua's Journey, the first western artifact-based traveling exhibit focused on African-American cowboys; Whodunit? The Science of Solving Crime, which has been seen by more than 5 million people in 18 states since 1993; Risk!, a multi-dimensional exhibit that examines risk and risk assessment; and now CSI: The Experience,

9 National Partnerships.
The Museum actively participates in numerous key partnerships, which gives its exhibits and learning programs national exposure and brings the best exhibits and learning experiences from other museums to Fort Worth. These include partnerships with six of the nation's leading science museums (Science Museum Exhibit Collaborative), seven children's museums (Youth Museum Exhibit Collaborative), and the Exploratorium in San Francisco.

10 Paleontology for the Public.
For almost 20 years, the Museum has partnered with Southern Methodist University faculty on important paleontological work: from excavating bones and fossils at sites in Texas to preparing the fossils for research and exhibitions. SMU's Shuler Museum of Paleontology and the Institute for the Study of Earth and Man conducts the research and publishes scientific papers while the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History interprets and presents the bones and fossils to the public in dynamic, interactive exhibits.
